Phoenix Rising

The title came from a friends comment. I'm not sure if the Phoenix Rising was actually from a conversation we had a couple of years ago or what he saw in the painting. Either way, I like the title, and it brings good memories of our friendship.
Abstracts are still my first love in art. So anytime I've worked on a more realistic painting, I have to take a time out for an abstract. This has the bright fall colors I love along with the blue/green mix which are among my favorites. I haven't yet come up with an appropriate title but wanted to show the painting in the meantime. Nexus (or The Nexus Ribbon)

Star Trek fans will understand the title. Of course, this is my interpretation of The Nexus Ribbon. This painting wasn't started with this in mind; this is just what it reminded me of as it developed. Thanks for looking!

About Me

My original love was the performing arts. I grew up dancing, and it was my dream to be a professional ballet dancer. That was not to be so I turned to other forms of creativity. It's only been within the past few years that I discovered painting. I'd forgotten how much I loved drawing as a child. Maybe this is a passion re-awakened! I'm a self-taught artist and always looking to learn new techniques. One of the things I've always classified myself as is a "perpetual student". I love learning, and I love experimenting with new techniques. For me, this is one of the best parts of art; experiencing new things is more important to me than the finished piece. So you never know what I'll end up with. Hope you'll enjoy the experience too!
