Glow

Glow

9 x 12 Oil on Canvas Panel.
This is the demonstration piece I painted for our local Brush & Palette Club. Our main goal was to get everyone to loosen up and have fun. I think we accomplished that. For my demo piece, I wanted to do bright glowing colors. I can see several different things in this painting. How about you?

Old Barn

Old Barn

5 x 7 Oil.
This is the 3rd of 7 small oil paintings I'm doing for a special project. I was trying to capture the look of an older barn. As always, I love the different colors of skylines.

Mystic Waters

Mystic Waters

8 x 8 Acrylic.
This was another experiment with my blending technique. The Brush & Palette Club I belong to has asked me to demonstrate my abstract technique since I'm probably the only one in the group that paints many abstracts. We decided to make it a hands on class. Since some members prefer acrylic, I wanted to see how my usual way of painting would work with it. While I still prefer oils, I'm pleased with how this one turned out. I love how the colors blended and may want to do some more experimenting with acrylics.

Letting Go

Letting Go

8x10 Oil on Canvas.
This painting represents part of my own personal journal and as such, is a companion piece to the painting titled "Emotion". It's been quite a journey! But looking forward to the new chapters.

This is also very different from my first version - only the open hand remains the same. While I always had the light in mind, the original had much bolder color. After attending a retreat this past weekend on Awakenings...New Beginnings, I decided the light needed to be a little more subtle. I'm please with the final effect.

Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.
(Isaiah 41:10)

Bunny

Bunny

5 x 7 oil on canvas.
This bunny is part of a project I'm working on that is also stretching me. Animals are not my usual forte so it's being a challenge to try to capture the image. 5 x 7 is also a little smaller than my usual so smaller details are being a new experience. This was also my first time to create a "frame" around an object. While the photo appears my frame is a bit off, in the original painting, it is even all around. It's being a fun project, and I'm looking forward to rest of the paintings in it. This is #2 of 7.
